It may feel like you do not have personal goals but you do. You are just not aware of them. There are some simple steps you may take to clearly understand your goals. It does not matter what your goals are. Your goal might be to learn how to break 80 in your golf game or maybe to learn to play the piano. Whatever the goal is, you must be able to see it clearly in your mind first. The first step is bringing awareness to your goals.
You should approach this as you would any personal training program. The best way to see your personal goals clearly is to simply write them down. Find a spot that is quiet and where you will not be disturb. It may help to close your eyes and to relax. Some people find prayer to be helpful in making them be receptive to their inner voice. The important thing though is to have a quiet place where no one will interrupt you.
It is sort of like watching a movie, with you as the leading character. Be aware of all the feelings that you would have. It is almost a dream state. It may take some practice but go to your quiet place everyday. Practice will make perfect.
Next, make a to do list of what you must do to achieve the incremental steps. There may several concrete things you will have to do. Write them down. Seeing a list on paper brings a reality to your plan. It is important to make your to do list very detailed. Try to consider carefully exactly the steps that you must take to accomplish your goals.
It is important to reward yourself as you accomplish each of the items on your to do list. Reward yourself with a beautiful piece of rhodium plated jewelery or a fine bottle of wine. This positive feedback will motivate you to continue with your plan.
It is common to experience temporary setbacks as you work your plan. You can count on this. Do not let the set backs discourage you. Take a deep breath and keep working your plan. If necessary you may have to revise your plan. Go to your quiet place and revise if you have to.
Your dreams are waiting for you. Do not fear them. Find your quiet place and watch your own movie. Make your personal to do list and accomplish each step of your plan. Your goals are awaiting you.
