The Way In Which I Managed To Stop Smoking

I had attempted to quit smoking on a number of occasions but had often failed at the first hurdle. I was fully aware that I had to learn from the mistakes and failures of the past to ensure that the next time I attempt to quit will be the last time – due to it being a success.

I decided that I would only try again to stop smoking, when my life was in what I classed as a good period. If I am stressed out for example at work where I sell French doors then I always seem to yearn for a fag. When I am doing well and I am happy, I have far less of a need to smoke, therefore this will be the type of period, when I will start yet again to quit the fags.

I am not sure why I did this but whenever I have tried to quit smoking in the past I have let everyone know what I am attempting to do – family, friends and work colleagues etc. This is a big mistake as to quit it is important that you stop thinking about cigarettes completely. Having various people asking as to “how you are getting on” is actually not good for somebody like me as I just want to forget that cigarettes even exist and by them asking me reminds me that they do – I fully understand why they are asking of course and that they are only concerned and interested in my well being. By going about it in a quiet way, maybe only telling your closest family members and friends, makes it a whole lot easier.

Another reason why I had failed in my previous attempts to quit smoking, was possibly due to spending too much time with other people who smoked. I decided that in this new quest, I would attempt to stay away from other smokers as much as I could. This was not that easy as quite a lot of my friends are smokers. I had to be determined and make sacrifices. What I am attempting to do could have a very positive affect on my life, I therefore have to have the courage to do everything in my power that I think will help to lead to a successful conclusion.

Stop Smoking Tips And Tricks

Anyone who has tried to quit knows that it’s not a one-person undertaking. You need help to stop smoking. One of the most effective stop smoking aids isn’t sold in any form. It’s nothing more than knowing that you’re harming yourself and your family with the second hand smoke. If those people who care most about you are ready to help you through the process, you may find that you can make it happen. This is what I believe a support network should be trying to accomplish and the reasons why I think that this form of support network is so essential if we are going to be successful in quitting those nasty cigarettes.

I am in no way attempting to sell you anything here and I do not work within the stop smoking sector. I am actually involved in jobs in foster care as well as offering budget package holidays and I sell composite doors on a part-time basis.

Make Yourself Responsible to Someone

Smoking cessation is sometimes more difficult because you figure you can sneak in a cigarette now and then without anyone knowing about it. Making yourself responsible to another person means that you’re going to have to actively lie about your smoking. Is there really any point in denying the fact that you have smoked? OK so you feel bad or you feel like a loser – well you are and perhaps if you get to feel like a loser then this then might spur you to on to become a smoke-free winner. Choose someone who’ll ask you on a regular basis whether you’ve had a cigarette.

Talk to the “Naggers”

Spouses, family and friends often nag about smoking until the smoker is ready to scream. The key here is that it’s seldom productive and only makes the smoker more angry, nervous and anxious for another smoke. Quitting smoking is hard enough without adding the stress of arguments over the subject. Take time to explain that to all those “naggers” in your group. State that there support is vital to your success but that any form of negativity or nagging will be of no help whatsoever.

Help For Quit Smoking Hypnosis

Advise the support group members with regards the types of products you are going to be using. The important thing is that you’re stopping smoking. With that in mind, ask all those who doubt that hypnosis stop smoking methods (or whatever you choose) keep their opinions to themselves. If you lose faith in the quit smoking hypnosis because of what you hear about it, it’s only going to serve to make the process less effective.

How To Quit Smoking Cigarettes

How many times have you attempted to stop smoking but have failed to do so? Yes I thought so – not good is it? No doubt – like many of the people who read this article I tried, and failed, numerous times to quit smoking before eventually managing to find a top quality stop smoking technique that worked for me.

I am speech therapy coach; I basically help people who have a stuttering problem to achieve fluency. I am also involved with other projects including offering an affordable DVD duplication service and enabling people to learn to play the guitar.

As for attempting to quit those nasty fags; I would be able to stop smoking for one week, two weeks and on one attempt even managed as many as three weeks before falling off the wagon, as they say – or is this saying solely in relation to alcohol? Well who cares at the end of the day? I am sure you understand what I mean.

I would then have a voice in my head, what I call “my demons”, who would speak to me and would say something along the lines of:

“You are doing really well, why don’t you have just one cigarette for old times sake? You deserve it. It is only one, it does not mean that you are going back to become a fully fledged smoker.”

Now I have no idea why but for someone reason I would listen to this voice and would have that “one” cigarette. This of course was just wrong and this one cigarette would, without a doubt, always lead me to going back to my old bad habits.

So how did I eventually learn to stop smoking? Well a friend of mine, Tony, advised that I needed to focus on two things at the same time, not just quitting the fags. He stated that when you just concentrate on attempting to stop smoking your whole focus and thought process is always on “smoking”. He stated that I needed to focus on something else as well as attempting to quit smoke smoking and suggested that I also went on a diet; charming; I know that I am overweight but a diet.

I decided to give it a go and it worked like a dream. I now feel like I could run a marathon!

After all had been said and done, she finally saw the two-facedness in her behavior and finally determined that she would live her life as a positive source of affirmation for the patients she consulted at the hospital.
