The Best Ways To Reduce Stress

There have been a number of issues in my own life which have caused me to lose confidence, become stressed and even depressed. These include:

A lack of true friends

I have had problems with debt

A stuttering speech impediment

A bald patch

I have had problems controlling my weight

I was often paranoid about what other people thought of me

These issues have caused me many sleepless nights. There were various periods when I could not actually fall asleep due to the numerous problems running through my mind. This was due to constantly worrying and thinking about my problems.

It was then that I decided that enough was enough – I could no longer continue to live life in this way. I started by reading books about the best ways to reduce stress and about how to gain in confidence. After a long time, I believed that I had some tools and techniques which would help me.

Stress management techniques

Stop thinking so much

I am what people call a thinker. I have to admit that in the past I have thought far too much about various things/problems. This would not be a problem if I was thinking in a positive way but of course I was a negative thinker.

One way that I found helped me to reduce the amount that I worried and the amount that I thought about various things was by listening to music. Whenever I hit a negative thought process, I would play this music. This could be when I am in the car, when I am in the house and even when I am in bed.

The music helps to take my mind off the issues that I was stressing about.

Quit smoking and start exercising instead

Many people decide to smoke a cigarette when they are stressed. I believe that a far healthier and cheaper option is to exercise.

I will do a few weights and a few press ups which helps me to let off some steam. I am even able to battle against my phobias and various anxieties when listening to my music.

Learning to relax

Relaxation was something I found very hard to do; especially due to having a very busy career as an SEO consultant.

I have now started various forms of alternative therapy such as tai chi, meditation and reflexology. These are superb at helping people to relax and also help to reduce levels of stress.

Complementary Health Therapy

Do you suffer with one of the many health problems out there? Are you getting fed up with the traditional forms of health treatment? Are you looking into the different forms of alternative health therapy that are available? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, this article may be of interest to you. In the article, I am going to write about some of these alternative therapy treatments which I, my family and friends have tried in the past. I hope you enjoy the read.

I would like to make one thing straight before I continue and that is that I do not work within the industry of alternative therapy. I am actually involved with cost reduction specialists and also fostering services UK.

For whatever reason my own wife is a person who often suffers with a deep depression – maybe it is because she is married to me. She also has had quite a few health related problems with the last five years. She is quite a stressful person and at times finds life to be fairly tough. A couple of years ago she decided to find a different approach to ones she had previously tried. The first option she tried was reflexology. She was not entirely sure if she really wanted a stranger messing about with her feet but was more than pleased with the experience on her return. She was rather surprised as to just how great the treatment had made her feel: “I feel like going to sleep know” she said.

I have also found myself struggling to cope with the pressures of every day life. I have now decided to give meditation a go. This is not I am sure for everyone but it has certainly helped me to think in a more positive and clearer way. It took me quite a long to meditate in what would be known as the correct way as I originally could not seem to concentrate or relax enough. It also helped me, in part, to overcoming a stuttering problem that had affected the whole of my childhood.

My mum is a person who would rather visit what is known as here in the UK as a “woman’s wellness centre” than go to her own GP. She has not spoken too much about this to me but it obviously helps her as she has now been going there for years.

Tai chi is a very popular form of alternative therapy for many people. I was actually thinking about taking up Tai Chi before I finally decided upon meditation. Tai chi has many benefits is without doubt something that I will try at a later date.

These are just a small number of the many alternative health treatments out there. It is worth pointing out that even though they have been successful in helping the above people, they may not work for everyone. In my opinion it is worth giving different things a try as it may just change your life.
