What causes self-motivation to decrease? What contributes to the decrease of self-motivation?

And what are some ways to increase self-motivation? It’s so much harder to gain self-motivation than to decrease it.

Of course, self-motivation is totally essential because it motivates oneself to find one’s passion, goals, and what he/she loves doing. It’s important because it motivates to take action and eliminate the fear or shyness of taking action and getting things done.

Self motivation is hindered by lack of purpose. In today’s world, lack of purpose is caused by an absence of clarity of thought….. in other words, confusion….. as options are multiplying through technology and progress, the chances for confusion also are correspondingly increasing… a further contributing factor is the ever increasing risks due to tougher competition which dampens our confidence. I believe it helps if we do not begin with aiming for the best…. a step-by-step advancing of ambition is the right way today to get hooked on to a reasonably rewarding purpose with a flexibility to keep looking for betterment options all the time with an open mind.

Hope this helps.

Many things can cause self-motivation to decrease, but, especially in youth, I think self motivation can be decreased by one person caring too much about what everything else thinks. The key to building self-motivation is to build confidence, and the key to building confidence is independence.

Think about what you can do, on your own; things that don’t rely on help from others or what others think. Things like running, reading & writing, taking a trip on your own and succeeding in whatever you set out to accomplish on the trip, meeting new people all on your own and not through friends, etc.

    What causes self-motivation to decrease?

Not being able to handle the pressures of failures.

What contributes to the decrease of self-motivation?

Not learning from or accepting failures as a part of the game, and not moving forward despite set backs. If you are right, then stay focused despite set backs. Those set backs will make you wiser & stronger. Having everything go absolutely 100% smoothly just isn’t reality.

setting yourself aims and goals with clear "targets" works best… psychologist have found there are two types of motivation. TOWARDS motivation and AWAY from motivation.

TOWARDS motivation is much better… towards motivation is when you know what you are working TOWARDS… you know what you are trying to achieve, do or feel. you set small steps TOWARDS your end goal.

AWAY from motivation means you are moving AWAY from something unpleasant that you don’t want or don’t like. It means you suffer an awful lot before you ever have any motivation to change it. You don’t know what you want or what you are working towards, only what you are working away from.

    hope that makes sense!
