Positive thinking is step one. Step two is positive action. The first without the second is called dreaming. Good Luck!
References :
First, give me something to think positively about. Work the bugs out, and I'll give it a try. Please, don't try to push idiocy, inefficiency, or one-sided responsibility. My positive attitude will be affected in a negative way.
References :
You can research cognitive-behavioral therapy, which follows a model that you might find interesting.

Beliefs affect actions and words, and observations can reinforce beliefs. This creates a cycle. Suppose you've got a dysfunctional lifestyle or bad habits, like worrying too much. If I keep believing that bad things will happen in a specific situation, then I'll only notice and validate the bad things that happen to justify and reinforce my belief. One way to break out of it is to consciously remind myself to believe otherwise. Another way to break my worrying is to take note of exceptions to what I believe, or try to say or do something different to prove myself otherwise.

So if I think positively, then I'll see the good things in life and convince myself more about positive things. Positive thinking also opens myself up to positive results and believing that they really happen normally (as opposed to being some fluke).
References :
Granted it's wikipedia, but still.

Positive thinking by one person can effect others all over the world. A good thought can travel world wide with in a day. So can bad vibrations they cause the wars and stuff like that. Good and positive thoughts can stop most con flicks before they start. It is only when each person feels the good in the thought of others that the reaction will show. If one person feels good and hides it from others it will still travel to others by the way the person reacts around others with their body movements. Its odd but this is how we see the feelings of others in our minds with out realizing it.

It is the most positive thing about human beings in communicating with each other.

Just an opinion here.
References :
Never say die .....is positive thinking. No matter how bad or hopeless the situation is, there is always a way out and you need to find it and be fast with it.

Always look on the bright side of things or the shine of objects and not the other way round. Negative thinking should be out of the mind of the challengers.
