Is it "positive thinking" to believe that there’s something better out there for me ? Or am I deluding myself?

I’m concerned that by wondering about the grass being greener, I don’t fully make the most of the what’s actually happening to me

There is no point just having a general belief that things will get better. You have to decide what it is that want and pursue it.

Make a plan, take action and keep focused on what you want. It doesn’t have to be a great plan and you don’t need to know how to do it.

Just take the best first step you can think of and the rest will come to you.

Positive thinking has gotten a bad rep lately, but it really just means thinking about what you want and not about what you don’t want.

It is never productive to think negatively! You experience what you think, believe it or not! You are the one who is creating your own reality, moment by moment. So you can defeat yourself with negative thinking and cause all those bad things to happen to you (and then you will say, WHY ME?)…or you can continue to have a positive and constructive thought process which brings you the kind of experiences in life that create success. It is all about how you THINK about things, and the sooner you learn this, the better. It takes time, sometimes, whole lifetimes, for people to realize this truth…many people live and die without ever realizing, their lives are self-created, not created by the world…they die thinking they were victims when in fact, they brought it all upon themselves.

I don’t think it’s deluding yourself if you are actually working towards bettering your situation. If you think there’s something better out there, but make no steps to obtain it, then it doesn’t matter if there’s anything better or not.

that is true, but i would say unless you make things happen, the grass will always look greener on the other side. there is always optimism and positive thinking, its like seeing the next step in your life. However maybe concentrating on the things here and now will be better anyway.

I’ve always said you need to follow your heart in these matters. If you are not fully happy then no you are not deluding yourself but if you are denying what you have cause it seems too good to be true then you are. Only you can fully answer your own questions.

Depends whether it’s accurate or not – if not, it’s a delusion. If so, then it’s not. Like, if you’re in a Turkish prison under a death sentence to be carried out tonight at midnight, I’d say there’s probably nothing better in your future – but if not, then sure, why not? Especially if you undertake to go get what it is you want, make it happen.
