Three things:

Start a gratitude journal...every night, write down 5 things that you are thankful for. You can begin by being thankful that you breathe without thinking about it & that your heart beats without effort. Start very basic & build from there. I find that it is hard to argue negatively about something that you are grateful for. It does take conscious effort to recognize gratitude, but it is WELL worth it.

Second, start using affirmations. When we think negatively, we strengthen those connections in our brain & the thoughts become habitual. It takes repetition to create new positive connections. By using affirmations frequently, you create powerful new channels of thought. The affirmation: "I am willing to change." is a wonderful place to start because you gradually open up your mind to a new way of thinking with a statement that is already true...as I can tell from your question. Repeat this statement over & over again...especially if you can catch yourself during a bout of negativity.

Lastly, go on a break from the news. It is littered with negativity. The news teaches us a reality that is harsh and depressing. Everything we take in through our senses affects our thinking patterns & by listening to negativity you are only adding power to already negative thoughts. Surround yourself with as much positive material as you can. We reflect the environment that surrounds us...make sure you’re surrounded by the beliefs and attitudes that you want to adopt.
References :
www.creativeaffirmations.com

hi there, relax,i struggled with the same thing from 15 to 21...i thought i was different from the rest coz i was socially awkward, had severed self esteem issues, always judging myself negatively and worrying about others opinions about me...at 17,i decided to take control of my life..started with reading "the magic of thinking big" by Dr.Schwartz, then i began a daily process of reciting positive affirmations in the morning and at night, gradually my old thought patterns changed,i started feeling better and my life improved....Watch the movie "The Secret",be friends with only those who support you and see the good in you....Remember,the way ur feeling right now is coz of subconscious beliefs/programming which u probably must have received from friends, family, teachers while growing up...To undo all that garbage,u have to install new positive empowering beliefs in your mind through daily nurturing of your mind,it takes persistence and u wil see results...i can totally relate to how u feel, but now at 23,i am a guy who has a brand new personality and attitude, and am having fun in life...there's lot more powerful self help material i have...email me if ur interested...gud luck)
References :
LOL your 20 what could you regret. As we get old we will always have things we regret. Taking that new job just because it didnt pay or not taking that job. Especially when things dont end up working out we think what if I had stayed maybe things would have changed or gotten better.

Obviously as we get older & the more responsiblities we get & the older we get the more we look back on & think of things in our past especially our youth & the what if this or what if that & the regrets we have from that. Again we all will have regrets I regret giving up my dream of a military career for love & a higher paying job during the techie years only to have bubble burst & not going to a 4 year college. I regret trusting alot of my friend i grew up with & if I had known what I knew I wouldnt have stayed friends with them. I regret growing up faster then most my age not dating this person or dating that ex. I'm a realist we will all have regrets through our lives and as long as you did what you felt was the best option at the time you had to make the choice then there's nothing you could have done differently even if it didn't work out how it thought it should. Even when it comes to good things we often will second quess them or regret it at times it happens & no matter what we all will have them. Try not to dwell on them and use them for education next time. I quit a dead end job where i was doing a lot more and in charge for a job that paid better & has more chances for advancement & raises but I'm not the boss and do alot less work so its actually boring now. Of course when i was at the other job all i thought about was how my manager was a moron & everyone basically would come to me & how i was basically the manager only not getting paid for it but it was going no where & all my hard work & loyalty hadnt gotten any kudos from my employeer who i guess just assumed I would always be there to fix things. I dont regret it yet in a way I do so again we will always second guess & have regrets anyone who says they dont is lieing. Just try to make the most of it & remember we all make mistakes. My brother didnt like his job so he quit then final after a few months looking got another one which was worse and ended up getting bought & now he quit there & has actually returned to the orginal job he didnt like but with a different group & seems happy but certainly there were times where he regreted leaving or taking the new. I regret not taking more chances & enjoying my youth more as well as regret some of the things I did to LOL. It gets better & easier when you get older but will always be there.
References :
You and me both. I have the same problem, but I've gotten used to it. Sounds funny, but it's become a part of my life, and i feel weird if something else happens. lol. If you don't like it, it would be great to ask someone who knows about his stuff, someone like a psychiatrist.
References :
ask them the steps they took when they had to make a difficult decision and what they did to prepare - or what process they follow when making decisions - if they need a constant second opinion or are wafflers, chances are they will not work well independantly
Good luck!
References :
You could make cards (cut out slips of paper) give them a A3 sheet of paper with the days of the week on and ask them to plan the week with the tasks they would be expected to do. Give other slips of paper for them to write other tasks on they think would fill in the gaps of time. This would tell you if they have the experience in grounds maintenance that they say they have - do they know what other tasks will need doing? or do they think of things you might not? Or course it could backfire and no one know what to put.Another way to see if someone is self motivated is the things they do outside work - if they help out at local clubs etc and seem busy they must be self motivated.
References :
Stop yourself every time you say something negative and think about something good that could possibly come out of it. For every negative thought, counteract it with a 2 positive ones...this is what I do everyday and eventually it comes a little more natural..it just takes time.
