anybody on how to feel better about oneself when feeling really down…..i’m trying to cope with my post partum depression which seems to be beating all my self motivational skills……

Loads of people find that after working out, you get a boost in mood hormones or something like that. a "runners high" or something of that sort. You feel better after about a week or two and after a month it has long term effects. For myself anyway. Good luck!

why is self-motivation so important even when you have a job skill that is in high demand?

Having an "in demand" job skill, but having no self motivation to actually do the job you have the skills to perform would mean that you would be doing absolutely nothing.

Why is it that I know so much about loosing weight but my self-motivation sucks?

I have researched tons of information about dieting (eating healthy and exercising) and also I have an Endocrinologist, but my self motivation is very bad, I have lost tons of weight already but am getting sick of dieting so I’m starting to go back to bad habits. Eating until I feel stuffed, eating sugar, etc. and I’ve stopped exercising. Please help, I would appreciate it very much, thank you. I am Vegan (diet not lifestyle) btw.

I’m the exact same way. You HAVE to push yourself. For me? I keep a bottle of sun tanning lotion in my room and car.. when I get the urge to eat something fattening or when I don’t feel like working out? I spray a little on my skin so I can smell it, then I think of how hot I’ll look in that bikini on the beach! So I don’t eat the food, and I go workout. Sounds crazy, but it motivates me. Find something that motivates you! Good luck (:

I need help on how to get A’s in A levels and self motivation?

I am currently doing my A’ levels and i have taken: MATHS,BIOLOGY,PHYSICS and CHEMISTRY. I need help on how to motivate my self to study ,i find it hard cos i am a very social guy.My target grades are all b’s but i want to get A’s.Physics and chemistry is where i need help badly since exams for all my subjects are breathing down my neck as they are only a month and a half away!!

Your motivation is that you want to get "A"s. You can chose to be social or you can chose to work. As a sentient, intelligent human being you have free will.

The only thing you need to do about your social life is tell people than you cannot come out (except, say, Friday night) until your exams are over. Then you have to stick to it.

If you cannot, at your age, motivate yourself to work then nobody can.

Good happiness and self motivation book?

What is a good and fun to read self motivation and happiness book?

1) Be aware. Be open. Be willing to strrrrrrrrretch.
2) Explore your belief system. Ask, “How did I get to be who I am?” The first place to look is with your primary role models—your parents.
3) Evaluate which ones work for you and which ones sabotage your happiness. Delete the ones that no longer serve you.
4) Create new ones that support your dreams and passions.
5) Consciously choose to shift from fear and doubt to love and trust.
6) Observe your life. Notice without judgment.
7) Take total responsibility for your life and be aware if you respond to people and circumstances, or react to them. The only place of power is in responsibility. Giving up being a victim is a priority!
8) Experiment in taking one full waking day to appreciate everything that happens to you, and I mean everything.
9) Resist not. Allow instead.
10) Express to others how they make a difference in your life. Be grateful for it all.
I don’t know about good or fun read but this might help you get on the right track to finding something.

i’m writing my college essay and i have to explain a personal quality i am most proud of. i would call it independence, but that’s not exactly the right word.

i basically am explaining the physical and mental abuse i suffered as a child, my decision to leave home at 12 years old and build a new life, and starting working when i was 14 and starting college when i was 15.

something along the lines of self-motivation, self-driven, independence, and individuality?

Self-Driven, committed, ambitious should describe you!
Proud of you!
Best of luck!

Solutions for self motivation?

I’ll briefly describe what my situation in order to better understand what this question is about.

I am 18 years old. My mom passed away in December of 2007 a couple of days before Christmas. My dad left me when I was 2 and is not in contact with me at all.

After she passed away I went through a bit of turmoil, unsupportive family, school was hard, so on.

I lived with my aunt and uncle for several months but criticism between each other reached its limit and I moved out and to my friends house.

Over the span over about 1.5 years, (since my moms death), I’ve been slowly going down a slope of de-motivation. I can’t get out of bed anymore, I want to live a successful life. But the road I am on now, I won’t graduate. I only 3 classes to pass and I am having a hard time motivating myself to pass them to graduate.

My question is… are there any methods to make self-motivation easier to come by. All I want to do is graduate high school and continue on to a higher education. I have aspirations but not the motivation to achieve them.

I have my phone set to wake me up at 6, 6:10, 6:30 and sometimes all three of those don’t wake me up. My counselor calls me in the morning to wake me up and today that didn’t even wake me up.

I know I have a moderate case of depression but not enough time to fix it. I have about… 7 weeks to get my school work in check. All I need is D’s to graduate…

You obviously have had and still have a tough situation to deal with, with all that’s happened in your life, especially recently! Please give yourself a hand for just hanging in there!

What about writing down as many of your personal life goals as you can think of? Imagine in your mind in great detail what you think it would feel like to reach your most cherished goals someday. Then see if you can relate graduating from school with realizing or not realizing some of these most important goals. How necessary is graduating school to your life goals? Maybe then you’ll find the motivation to finish school. Just a thought.

I’m certainly no expert at motivation, but I think imagining goals in your head, then imagining yourself reaching them, might be a first step to motivating yourself. Good Luck!
