I always seem to have a hard time sticking to my guns with severing unhealthy relationships. And everytime, I think I’m being a self-empowered woman and moving along—the guys always come back some kind of way and ask for redemption. And I am always CONTEMPLATING what I should do. Why don’t they take me serious enough to give me what I want or LEAVE me the hell alone? Does that make me look weak?
The fact that you are contemplating means there is a chance that you might change your mind. The guys are sensing that chance. When you are firm with your no and start to prove that you mean it and that requests for redemption will not have an effect on you, then you’ll find they will leave you alone.
MEN? Do you take women like me SERIOUSLY?

It seems like the problem is not that they keep coming back, but that you get stuck in unhealthy relationships at all. If you are the one asking out, that gives you all the power in the world. You are holding the cards. I’d suggest to work hard to find guys to date with a strong sense of honor, and they are out there, and forget about guys that ever say one thing and do another. I don’t know about you, but that sort of thing is unattractive in any one. If you date honest, honorable people, they should respect your decision, and if they don’t, again, you hold all the cards. You are always empowered to not listen to them.

HI all!
One my best friend’s in the world is going through a really hard time with an addiction. She’s being really strong but this bit is the hardest part for her as she is still not ‘past it’ yet.
Does anyone have any favourite songs that could help her with this problem or even just some self empowering songs or ‘strong female’ songs or absolutely any song you think could help.
She loves pop, soft rock, country and oldies music.

The women in King Lear?

I was reading up on the play King Lear and read that it said that the women are self-empowered and didn’t elaborate on the statement. I don’t quite understand. Are the women in the play self-empowered? How are they self-empowered?
You have to look at Cordelia. From Shmoop Lit on King Lear:
Cordelia is one of the few genuinely principled people in King Lear. Compared with her two sisters, she’s a saint. Regan and Goneril flatter their father and then throw him out of the house once they’ve got his money. Cordelia, on the other hand, refuses to make a big public deal about her love for Lear, but later raises an army to come to his rescue. Cordelia’s honesty and integrity contrast with her sisters’ selfish insincerity. Lear’s transition from valuing the seeming love of Regan and Goneril to valuing the real, but unspoken, love of Cordelia shows his growth as a person.
Feminist scholars, on the other hand, think that Cordelia is an unrealistic character. She’s little more than a male fantasy, they argue. At the beginning, Cordelia resists her father’s demands and asserts her own identity. She refuses to give all her love to her father and withholds some of it to bestow on her future husband. But by the end of the play, however, Cordelia’s independence has disappeared. Lear’s initial dream of having his daughter’s love all to himself is realized when Lear and Cordelia go to prison together.

Well, first I would never call myself a b.i.t.c.h. Women who call themselves that are not in touch with their complete self. People are multi-faceted and if you can not recognize that you are human and have feelings, you will get nowhere. It is one thing to be strong and know what you want. It is another to be closed and to try and fool people (and yourself) into thinking that you are something that you are not.
