I would like to start a program for teenage girls on how to be crafty and self empowering.?

I am very much so interested in starting a program for teenage girls as an extra curriculum activity where different classes are offered such as sewing, drawing, cooking, fashion/etiquette, photography, life skills discussion about relationship and self esteem. I feel there is a need for this in my area where I live since only acting and dance classes are offered. I am clueless on how I can get started and what this would fall under to get a grant. If anybody could offer insight on this to me I will appreciate it. I have been researching on the internet but no real leads as of yet. I don’t have much money to start classes so I am thinking if any grants would be available. Also undecided if this would fall under school or program? HELP!!!
I think it’s a great idea, but I also think it’s going to be very difficult to get any grant or funding right now.
Here’s some resources for non profit organizations:

I would say that talking to local schools, and other community organizations would be the best way to get something going. Many community colleges and universities have no profit ties so they may be a good place to look as well. You can also try asking local businesses for help funding, although this isn’t an idea time for most businesses.

I am trying to be a bit more self empowering and have a professional, strong, but, fun image, not a pretty image. I just want people to see ME and not how I look, which I know ultimately is portrayed in the person you are, but, I feel I’m a short hair girl….I’ve cut it short before and loved it, but, quickly got depressed from everyone else’s reaction. As I get older I realize it should be about whether or not I like it and not anyone else, but…still want to look professional and stylish =) first is a picture of two different hairstyles I am IN LOVE with and then a picture of me with my hair now!

p.s. I really love my hair, and I’ll miss it…but, I want to do this. And would be donating it to Pantene for cancer patients.
Thank you so much!!
I think you could, possibly. Yea!

What has feminism ever done to champion a masculinist ideal?

What is something that feminism has done to help masculinists that is equal to or greater than something they have done for themselves? Be very specific. If they haven’t, why should masculinists bother with helping feminists when feminists are clearly strong enough to do it themselves and don’t need men’s help? Isn’t not requiring men’s help part of self-empowerment? If you can’t do something without a man’s help, does that mean that you are self-empowered or merely think you are? Lastly, if feminists are so busy helping themselves, then why should masculinists be held to a greater standard of helping both feminists and masculinists? Why can’t masculinist just help themselves if feminists can? Or is this just another double standard?
uz: Lastly, if feminists are so busy helping themselves, then why should masculinists be held to a greater standard of helping both feminists and masculinists? Why can’t masculinist just help themselves if feminists can? Or is this just another double standard?
uz: I didn’t say anywhere in the question that feminists should be fighting for men’s rights. Instead, the questions are a criticism of a criticism. Read more carefully next time.
Bottom Contributor: The definition that you and others want to hear about masculism can be found here http://sedition.com/ddx/w/169.html . Dwell in your own ignorance if you like. What has feminism ever done to champion a masculinist ideal?
Absolutely nothing. That’s because they can’t and they won’t.
It goes against their creed, belief what have you, such as it is against the masculinist creed, belief what have you to help the feminist cause.
Now, the main reason as to why both can’t help each other is because both are enwrapped in their own problems; meaning that there are times you just have to help yourself and never expect others to, cause like I said they have their own problems to sort out..
Is it a double standard to ask for help of the one whom you are fighting against to further your cause? Double triple yes and if you like I will quadruple that yes.

Self Empowering music for Women?

I am looking for music that has a very good beat to it so I can workout to it with my Shuffle.
Currently I have found Gunpowder and Lead, Im a Crazy Exgirlfriend and Getting Ready by Miranda Lambert. Then there is a Gretchen Wilson’s Redneck Woman.
I am basically looking for any genre– but C&W would be best, anything else suggested would be HIGHLY considered.
I guess I am looking for stuff to help me get ready for a potential break up with me doing the breaking up– I am just looking for stuff to keep me motivated and not to look back whining and crying about it. I think y’all know what I mean.
Thanks for the help!!!
Peace,
Jill

Having space to yourself takes courage. It is not following style but following your inner space. It’s very healthy to just be yourself. I got a big nod from it. Taking off from that lies cheat and pretend from life’s partner i come to think of on how to define the ways to design space of my own.Everything starts with independence. You cannot define yourself if you are a parasite.Invest in myself by looking beyond myself.Self empowered.I read up…stimulating mind is Sexy.I learned to know Solitude..journey into myself. And, when i go to battle, i know also when to retreat. When the going gets so rough, and i’ve had it with being tough,i just run for cover.I do a momentary retreat and seek refuge in prayers.
I now learn to live without a man, and im ready to live with one. I am Ellen thepianist@yahoo.com.ph
Lets see..you name yourself a bit ch … an empress no less!!! and you announce alomost unintellgibly that you are "ready " to live with a man? I hope you do not also mean you are ready to have children. I really hope you are not saying that.
And you think men and women should what? JUMP for joy at your announcement????
Ok, girl..
A. Go for that GED. It is very important.
B. Get a dictionary.
C. Do not be ready to live with a man quite yet.
I agree with some of what you said..but I am not convinced ( not that you need to convince me , a stranger to you ) that you are "ready" for much of anything yet.
You need to prepare yourself for marriage ..not for living with some guy.. marriage is for a lifetime..not a few minutes while a few more babies who won’t be raised properly will be produced. You are not just some stupid baby machine..and if all you do is to produce babies to a series of men who refuse to provide them with anything … then you will not even be a good mommy and all you will have proven..is that you are a stupid baby machine who does not even care about the babies she might bring into the world.
Grow up, woman. Grow up.
For all: how do you perceive yourself?

Inspired by a recent question asked by Deke that I have been observing for some time:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoiCYaoXegY3MxHjqDfM4cMAAAAA;_ylv=3?qid=20080402054212AAJxuiT
Every one is encouraged to answer, be it monotheist, polytheist, atheist, or agnostic, how do you perceive yourself and how does religion influence that perception?
What I mean by perceive is how you regard yourself, e.g. sinful by nature and inferior to your God(s), atheist and free of unnecessary religious guilt, self empowered or at peace with self, etc.
I think this will be interesting, so if you understand, please answer.
I like this question.
Self reflection is a good means of assessing your actions.
I perceive myself as a good person. I do good deeds, and feel great when I do because they are of my own power. I don’t do things because I believe an invisible mighty deity is watching my every move. Instead, I feel I have pure, sincere compassion.
When I am not being angered by stupidity, I am generally a very nice person. I am loving to all of my friends and family, all of which are of different backgrounds and religions.
I feel as if I’m a person that makes this life as good as it can be. I love to spend time with friends and family because I know my time on this earth is the only time I’ll have with them.
I am very much at peace with my self. I have nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, if I were religious…I wouldn’t feel very sinful. I do what makes me happy and since that never involves hurting another person, I feel as if I am living my life in a way that is kind not only to myself, but to those around me as well.

Why Are Women So Undervalued In Most Mainstream Religons?
August 3, 2009 by admin

Look at Moslem, Judeo-Christian teachings, women are either evil, stupid, treacherous or on the other extreme – saintly, submissive and self effacing? Is that why many of these faiths have a hard time with wiccan/pagan women who are self-empowered?
Reagn M – I am not parroting any one else’s ideas, this is based on years of experience, as a woman, and as a wiccan. I am also referring to the biblical/koran traditial teachings – NOT what is in the present time! However, since you brought it up – A young Molsim woman who dared to go out against her teachings and be an independent person in her own right was "honoured killed" by her own relatives.
Any wiccan/pagan women out there who would like to get a point in?
well the bible doesnt say too much at all about women other than implying that they should be submissive and supportive. the submissive thing is what gets to me. wiccan women are greatly empowered and very highly regarded in their religion. oddly enough wicca and womens rights were two highly controversial topics in past decades. makes you wonder??an di am a woman so i can say this.. how many actively religious ,SINGLE, successful wome are out there honestly? these religions are male based. adn hes not saying they treat the women badly or abusively, just that they should be looked at in such a way which was true for a long while….
