Thinking about doing shrooms, what are the positive and negative effects?

Also, if you’ve done them before, if you have any tips, any whatsoever, that would really help. I just want to know everything that I should possibly know before I try them. If you know of any detailed websites, please include them. All opinions and answers welcome. Thanks in advance! :)
Thanks for all the answers so far, and I’m really sorry if this sounds stupid, but is it possible to overdose on them? Can you die at all?

go to erowid.com.

it’s the best drug website i’ve found, and trust me…i spend a lot of time researching illegal narcotics.

a shroom trip comes and goes in waves…sometimes you’ll roll around on the floor laughing, sometimes you be very introspective, sometimes you’ll be anxious, sometimes you’ll be overly confident.

make sure you’re in a comfortable setting when you trip, and are around people you trust, and make sure you don’t have to go anywhere. make sure you’ve got happy music, trippy movies (fantasia is awesome), and strobe lights. don’t trip if you’re in a bad mood…that’s a guaranteed way to have a bad trip. shrooms (and most other hallucinogens) take the emotions you’re feeling and run with em.

before i check out on a trip, i make sure to write in big black letters on a paper IT’S ALL IN YOUR HEAD! and sign it. that way i can remind myself it’s all pretend if the trip starts getting dark.

you can overdose, psylocibin is a mild poison…but we’re talking consuming a lot of shroomies. i would stick to less than 3.5 grams (1/8 of an ounce) for your first time.

to intensify your trip, drink orange juice…or anything with a high vitamin c content. to kill a trip, drink milk, or anything with vitamin d.

oh yeah, shrooms taste nasty. mix em up in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or something when you eat em.

If Republicans are elected, what positive, forward-thinking policies will they enact to make America better?

After banning flag-burning, I mean.
Reagan Jefferson can’t think of one, wants to answer the question anyway. Odd.
of course more tax cuts will only make America’s problems worse, as they did during the Bush regime.
Yes, sunny, let’s go back to out-of-control health care costs and unregulated wall street. That will fix everything!
wally woogie, another conservative with all rhetoric and no substance.

I haven’t heard of any solution to any Americas problems besides cut more taxes.

positive thinking?

Has this been proven

In a controlled environment 2 people study for a subject for an hour. Hypothetically, both people know the same amount of material at the end. One person thinks he will do good on the test, the other person questions wheather he know the material well enough.

Which one will score better.
I guess I should have added who would do better theoretically and in reality

Theoretically, you’d predict the positive thinker would do better. Reason is, studying isn’t just an activity, it’s a process. While studying, this person’s positive image or expectation will cause her to think the thoughts and do the things that will achieve that result and persist based on the expectation. Very difficult for the person with doubts to do the same thing.

Is it true that thinking positive provides a higher chance of success?

I’ve been told it has something to do with your subconscious mind, that when you think for example, "yes, by God, this is going to happen for me" somewhere down the line it will. Is it true or just optimist propaganda?

SO TRUE FOR ME!!!

I used to be the most negative person there is in the world. I felt the unluckiest person alive. I had no friends because I believed that I was unlikable and unloved all the time. I always attracted people who brought me down and put me down. I always had bad things happened to be because I expected them.

Then I found LAW OF ATTRACTION. I researched and researched about it and found forums about people who had manifested a lot of things using this law. I manifested positive people, men in my life and some money. It`s true that you must do some kind of action but this action is inspired because of how you are using the LAW. I now always have positive things come to my life because I expect them.

You should try watching THE SECRET. There were lots of people who became a millionaire and became successful because of positive thoughts and positive feelings. And isn`t it better to be positive and happy all the time rather than feeling bad when thinking negatively? Which makes you feel better?

Like the above said, MIND OVER MATTER.

Positive thinking?

My son just started college, he so confused and doesn’t know what he want to be and he is not studying, and when ever I want to talk to him he is telling me don’t worry about me, I wonder if anyone can introduce to me some positive thinking CD that I can recommend to him to listen.

If you can even get him to listen to it. Tell him to sit down and listen…you’re the mother and he needs to listen. Tell him that it’s OK that he doesn’t know what to do yet. Many, many students change their majors tons of times until they figure it out. It’s normal. I changed mine three times. Tell him that this feeling is normal. But, if his grades are slipping, there is more to the story than he’s telling you. I have a feeling something else is going on.

Spiritually speaking, do you think positive thinking does any real good to help make real changes.?

Or is it just wishful thinking. Guess I am asking about this law of attraction stuff. In theory it sounds like an idea, but before I bother I want to know if it has worked for anyone.

"Or is it just wishful thinking"?

Prayers, Lucky Chains, Charms, Worry Beads, The Rosary, Hare Krishna beads … all are ‘wishful thinking’ BUT whilst you’re doing them you’re focusing on your goal; you are much more likely to achieve something when you become disciplined, obsessive and or do ‘whatever it takes’.

Anything that ‘helps’ or reputedly helps is worth doing.
The reason anyone is successful is because of the self-belief.
Rarely does anyone become successful without focus or effort …
other than me of course.

thinking positive when you feel down?

I having trouble settling into a new job. A totally new field for me and it’s very hard. I feel like responsibility is being taken from me and people don’t trust me. I also feel like I am not capable. It’s rough I studied for 5 yrs to get this job and now I’m in it it is really hard.

How do you keep a positive attitude regardless? I want to be positive because I figure dwelling on this and feeling bad won’t help anyway. At least if I am positive I will feel better, even if things aren’t better iykwim?

What people don’t realize is that it’s not always possible to feel positive, especially if you have a little depression. Thinking positive thoughts only helps when you’re brain is functioning properly. Be sure to allow yourself to feel negative for a while. Treat yourself to some much needed rest or to something you love doing. If you continue to feel this way every day, see your doctor. It sounds like you’ve worked really hard to get where you are and you’re exhausted, and stress can lead to anxiety and depression.

Do you have any thoughts on the power of positive thinking or are you the same as me and can`t decide?

I doubt it. I just can’t make up my mind!

Is positive thinking wishful thinking? Could you exemplify positive thinking and wishful thinking?

Give me examples.
How do you know something good will happen?

POSITIVE THINKING: a distinctly American movement originating in the nineteenth century which believed in PROGRESS and stressed the role of thought in the creation of material well-being.

wishful thinking

Identification of one’s wishes or desires with reality.

http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/wishful%20thinking

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/wishful_thinking

Wishful thinking is the formation of beliefs and making decisions according to what might be pleasing to imagine instead of by appealing to evidence, rationality or reality.

Studies have consistently shown that holding all else equal, subjects will predict positive outcomes to be more likely than negative outcomes.

Prominent examples of wishful thinking include:
Economist Irving Fisher said that "stock prices have reached what looks like a permanently high plateau" a few weeks before the Stock Market Crash of 1929, which was followed by the Great Depression.

President John F. Kennedy believed that, if overpowered by Cuban forces, the CIA-backed rebels could "escape destruction by melting into the countryside" in the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

Real positive thinking implies action; it’s proactive. Wishful thinking is reactive. Positive thinking is figuring out a way to prosper in bad times – and believing you can. Wishful thinking is waiting for the good times to arrive and save you from your circumstances.

How can change my way of thinking positive instead of negative and for it to work?

I tend to mentally put myself down and I don’t mean to but I want to change that for good into something positive. I wish I could get hypnotized.

Sometimes there’s reasons beyond your control (chemical, electrical, metabolic imbalances, etc.) for why it’s hard to change your thoughts. Sometimes it’s old memories/experiences that keep playing over and over.

One thing that can help, is rather than putting pressure on yourself to "think positive" (which can sometimes activate fear centers in the brain even more!) try to think "less negative"…like, "I’m not in a good space to be assessing myself, right now." Or, "Is that statement really true?"

Another thing that can help is Neurofeedback. It’s a non-medicinal way of helping you to feel better and get unstuck from certain cycles of mood and thinking. What state are you in? Michigan has a good place – Mid-Michigan Neurofeedback They’re at www.mmneuro.com

GOOD LUCK to you!
