Everybody gets in a bad mood sometimes.  It is something we people just go through

However, because a bad mood can really block us from feeling good, from getting things done and from enjoying life, it can be wonderful to know some ways to turn a bad mood into a good one.

The following are six ways I use all the time to turn my mood around.

#1  Smile
Smiling interrupts bad mood neural pathways. And strengthens the brain’s ability to keep a positive outlook.

When you are alone, put a little Mona Lisa smile on and you’ll feel better.  And, when your smile is aimed at another, you’ve just spread the contagion of smiling and feeling happy.

#2 Yawn
The simple yawn is quite amazing for the reason that so many beneficial things happen.  It lowers stress, induces the relaxation response and promotes pleasure and heightens sensuality.

Just open your mouth wide and induce a yawn.  Try it now!

Three:  Say Yes!
Simply saying the word “yes” can help you get into a more positive frame of mind.

I suggest you count on your fingers, ask ten questions of yourself and answer “yes”.  Start easy, like “Am I sitting down?”  “Yes.”

As you continue asking, get more and more enthusiastic, asking questions that make you happier and happier.

4. Appreciate.
Begin by looking around wherever you are and find one thing to appreciate. Silently think of a reason you appreciate it.  Next think of another reason you appreciate it.  And another, and another.

Now find another thing to appreciate.  This activity can be done virtuallyanywhere and at any time.

5. Tap.
Your body’s system of energy has a way of getting stuck both in patterns of thought and in patterns of emotion.

When you tap on some specific points, some of the ones acupuncturists use, clears and releases the negative pattern and allow a good mood to naturally return.

This easy method is referred to as EFT tapping.  You can learn how to do this tapping therapy in as little as 10 minutes with this free EFT manual and watching the short youtube EFT video above.

Six:  If I did feel happy…
If you’re in a pretty bad mood to start with, it can be hard to simply decide to feel better.  Try this.

Either silently, aloud or in writing.  Begin by saying, If I were to feel good right now, I just might feel good about”  and finish the sentence.

Keep going, completing your sentence with things you could feel good about.

In no time at all, you WILL be in a good mood.

I wish you more and more good moods.

How To Deal With Shyness And Social Anxiety

August 25, 2010 by

Shyness and social anxiety can be very detrimental to the quality of the lives of those who suffer from them. It is a common mistake to think that they are one and the same, but that is not the case. If you are shy, you may have social anxiety. If you have social anxiety you may exhibit shyness. One is a subset of another in that being shy is a subset of social anxiety.

Being shy is actually not that uncommon at all, and most people suffer from it at some point in their life. Social anxiety is much less common than shyness. To be able to determine whether someone is shy or someone has social anxiety, we must go back to the roots of these two and see if they indeed characterize on another.

Lets take a young girl being presented by her parents to a young boy as an example. The young girl may exhibit shyness in the form of being unable to talk to the young boy. Social phobia on the other hand may inhibit the young girl from even showing herself in the presence of the young boy. So, social anxiety is really just an extreme amplification of the symptoms of shyness.

That, however, may not be entirely accurate since being in a subset varies only in degree when compared to the whole. Thus, for shyness to be a milder form of social anxiety, the subject must exhibit other characteristics related to social anxiety. For example, someone suffering from social anxiety often trembles and physically cannot say words properly.

Without the additional symptoms of social anxiety, the behavior shown by the girl could thus only be labeled as shyness. Shyness is much easier to treat than social anxiety, and often regular exposure to, and interaction with, groups of people solves the problem. A similar can, be not always, be effective in treating social anxiety too. A person who fears being in a social situation may exhibit a different attitude with regards to social settings when the social venue is expanded slowly. Thus it may be good to expose the subject to a small group of 1 to 2 people and then when the subject shows willingness, the group may then be placed in a slightly larger group composed of 3 or more people.

In the end, shyness and social anxiety are not permanently debilitating conditions. Help is there for those that want it, and they should ask for it as soon as they feel that their problem is affecting their ability to make the progress in their life that they would like to. There are a range of methods of treatment available, all of which have been proven to work.

positive thinking?

Has this been proven

In a controlled environment 2 people study for a subject for an hour. Hypothetically, both people know the same amount of material at the end. One person thinks he will do good on the test, the other person questions wheather he know the material well enough.

Which one will score better.
I guess I should have added who would do better theoretically and in reality

Theoretically, you’d predict the positive thinker would do better. Reason is, studying isn’t just an activity, it’s a process. While studying, this person’s positive image or expectation will cause her to think the thoughts and do the things that will achieve that result and persist based on the expectation. Very difficult for the person with doubts to do the same thing.

Tap Yourself Into Alignment

Law of Attraction

Nanette Geiger, Law of Attraction Coach , writes…

All objects are made of energy. Even medical science measures the electrical impulses in our cells as EKGs.

Stress is energy. Although, stress is negative energy. Stress is the feeling we encounter when our brains send out instructions that follow with an emotional reaction (perhaps anxiety, sadness, or anger), a perception, or a behavior that isn’t appropriate for whatever is happening. By not appropriate I mean, “the fight or flight mechanism is triggered and there isn’t a saber-toothed tiger after you. Nobody is pointing a gun at your head. But the chemicals run regardless.

By reaching or tapping meridian points, “the ancient practice of Acupuncture, we can start to dissipate the stress“ so it doesn’t accumulate in the body. It begins to eliminate the negativity in your vibration so we can become more attractive, or more in alignment with our desires. If you need the help of a Law of Attraction Coach, by all means get support! Having an unbiased listener to check in with can help you move away from old patterns much faster.

Modern neuroscience and Quantum Physics are making enormous scientific strides in telling us how to transform habits of thinking.

Now I’ll teach you an extremely effective energy tool. It is named Temporal Tapping.

The left hemisphere of the brain is more critical thinking and prone to questioning… so we bypass the critical mindset by tapping a sentence phrased in the negative. Such as… “I am not anxious anymore about my job security”.

Starting on the left end of your head at your temple. Tap with three fingers of your left hand, tap at the temple, making your way to behind your ear. Make firm contact and a bit of a bounce around the back of the ear when you reach the base of your head. You can manifest Law of Attraction Relationships right now and increase your level of positive energy!

Tap and voice the sentence with the negative affirmation 5 times on the Left side and then we’ll repeat the technique on the right hemisphere with the positive phrase. “I no longer feel anxiety about my job security.”

The right hemisphere of the brain is more willing to accept things and to “go with it”. You do the same function, but this time beginning at the right temple and around the right ear. And say while tapping: “I’m a highly important employee. What I contribute is recognized by my job.”

If you consistently use this technique you will dissipate a lot of emotional and stressful charges extremely easily. Try it as much as you can. I know you’ll love the results.

How To Be Content And Happy

I have met many people in my life who are very negative. They moan about seemingly everything and walk around with the weight of the world on their shoulders. I was also like that until the age of twenty-two, at this age I decided to have a new approach to life.

During an afternoon at work one day (we worked for a front doors and UPVC windows company), aged as I say twenty-two, a colleague I was working with started to talk to me. What he said was a shock to me, however would have a profound effect on my future. He said to me:

“I am often shocked Steve at some of the things that you are say – you are living in one dark, lonely and depressing way, would you agree?”

“Am I?”

I said in a rather cautious voice – I had not realised that I was negative in comparison to other people.

He continued:

“Yes you are. You very rarely smile, you are negative about most issues and you always seem to be carrying the world on your shoulders”.

This man was aged around fifty three and continued:

“I used to be like you and then I was given some advice, of which I am now going to relay to you. Whenever you start to become slightly depressed or in the state of feeling sorry for yourself – start to watch the news on the TV. By doing this should soon make you realise that you are not so unlucky after all.”

I had a long think about what he had said. I had never been a big reader or watcher of the news, but decided to give it a go. The advice he gave me was totally correct, the news from around the world and even my own country was quite shocking. I realised that the worries I had were actually quite trivial and that I needed to cherish everyday and start to look on the bright side of life.

I have now commenced a new career working for a IBM distributor and have taken my new found positive attitude with me.

Conclusion: Start to appreciate what you have and the contentment will soon come.

Combating Suffering By Writing Throughout The Pain

August 21, 2010 by

36 months ago, I started formulating a fiction for tweens, Belle in the Slouch Hat. It’s a story about a young girl who looks for revenge after her brother was killed during the Civil War. I consciously started the story for my grandchildren; and I needed something to fill an emptiness in me as a result of the losing my dearest mother, and another special woman in my life. They died within two months of each other.

Whenever someone we love dies, we have to grieve; there is no way to avoid it. Everyone must endure the sadness and pain in their own personal way. My approach was writing.

Following losing those I dearly loved, it felt almost like something was stopping my hurting and preserving me through the harshness and misery because of death. To this day, I really believe ıt had been the Holy Spirit helping me through the single most difficult times during my life. You many decide upon to call it something else, but I believe it was the Holy Spirit. Eventually after that, the reality of the deaths set in and I had no choice but to go through the next phase of losing someone you adore, the grieving process.

At age sixy-one, I sat at my computer; I began to write, and I started to recover. I began writing a novel but without the full awareness of what I was stepping into. I didn’t stop take into account the volume of hours in which I would so willingly give to it, nor did I stop to think there was a correct way of doing it, all I know was I had to write. Sometimes it was down-right physically, mentally, and emotionally painful; other times, I felt drained of every once of energy in my body. Occasionally, my sense of meaning and my most treasured beliefs about life were challenged.

There seemed to be basically no schedule for when I needed to finish; and no one could determine to me when it could be finished. It required lots of time; not a day, not a month, not one year, but two full years.

Excepting the initial three pages of my book, I didn’t come with an order, or a plot ot follow, I just wanted to write. I even built a imaginary barrier around me and didn’t want anyone to fully understand just what I was writing, except my hubby.

The more I wrote, the greater I desired to write. Writing provided an outlet to cry, to laugh, and also have an adventure. Unknowingly, I had my very own support group with the personalities inside my story. For me, it was a safe setting to share my emotions and thoughts and work through my grief. I also found a means for me to commenorate those I loved.
