The Logical Way To Lose Weight

Would you like to find out about weight loss programs that work? Have you tried a number of different diets in the past but still find yourself being overweight? Are you fed up with being fat? Are you a person that dreams as to what it would be like to be leaner, fitter and healthier? I am, of course, not sure as to how you will have answered these questions however if you have answered one or more of them in a positive then this article may well prove to be of benefit to you.

I am somebody who until a few years ago would have answered yes to all of the above questions. I had tried many forms of diet, I would buy clothes that suited my size rather than the clothes I actually wanted to wear. I was without doubt fed up with being fat and was desperate to find a way of losing weight which would last.

I am by no means involved with weight loss in my career; I do in fact work with the cost reduction, stuttering and fostering services UK sectors.

In my opinion the answer to all of weight problems was quite simple. I do not need any fancy diet, what I needed to do was to think in a logical way. I first of all had to ask myself a number of questions:

Question. Why are you overweight?

Answer: I eat far too much food and drink far too much alcohol. The food that I do eat is basically fat food such as crisps, chocolate, takeaways and microwave food. I also do very little exercise, therefore I do not give my body a chance to burn off some of this fat. I tend to rarely walk anywhere, I prefer to drive.

Question. Why have you been unsuccessful with your past dieting attempts?

Answer: I did not really follow the program. I may have done for the short term but certainly did not over the longer term. I also gave into temptations by eating food types which I was not really supposed to.

Question. How much do you want to lose this excess weight?

Answer. A huge amount.

Question. How come you are not applying the diet in the way that it has been described?

Answer. I am weak, I suppose.

As you can see, the answers to my weight issues are in the answers to these questions. It was fairly obvious that I had to:

Have far more discipline

Be more determined

Be stronger

Walk and exercise a lot more

Eat in a much more healthy way

Cut down my intake of alcohol

Make sure that you continue with the above for a sustained period of time

A couple of years ago I started to implement my new logical form of diet and I am happy to report that I am now at a size that I am happy with.

Self Motivation for a sport (Rugby)?

September 26, 2009 by

hi everyone, i been playin rugby for about 6 years now and would love to go far in it. i have a training program and im pretty sporty and pretty fit but somedays i just dont feel like it got any ideas for self motivation??

it comes and goes dude, i’m 25 and this season is my 21st.

Rugby is like sex, you gotta change positions every now and again to keep it from getting boring.

If you seriously think that you can go somewhere in rugby, take a season to play a lower grade in a position that you think would help your game. If you’re a lock, play flanker; if you’re a wing, play centre and so forth.

The change will keep rugby interesting for you, you can play a whole new style of rugby, then, when you come back after your easy season, you’ll be a better player for it.

How to change really negative thinking to positive?

How to change negative thinking to positive. I find my self thinking about doing something or going some where and always make up really bad reasons why I shouldn’t. I look at everything and always look for something bad to happen. Its seems like its automatic how can I change this, really need some info. And when I am meeting new people I always think that they are judging me for some reason and dont think that I worth that much. I try to put them down in some way just to make my self look better, I know its just my low self esteem. I started having panic attacks because of this. I am 20 year old guy and Ive been told by lots of people that I am good looking. I look at all people around me and I think everybody is better than me. When somebody says something even jokingly about me in bad way, I get so pissed off and dwell on it for days. How can I get out of this and change the way I think and perceive things?I am just so sick of feeling this way.

Try to find the source of your low self-esteem, such as how you were treated as a child. Once you can understand the reason for your insecurity, you will realize that the problem is not yours and you can begin to heal.

Cure For Laryngitis

Laryngitis is caused by a virus and as such there is not in reality such a thing as a laryngitis cure. I however have recently been affected by laryngitis and I just could not seem to regain my voice, I was starting to become quite worried, I need my speech for work, I need my speech for my kids, I need my speech because I love to talk, I then decided to Google “a cure for laryngitis” in the hope that somebody could help me.

With regards to work I need my speech due to the fact that I am a stammering therapist; basically helping people who have a stammer to achieve fluency. I also work on other projects to do with enabling people to learn to play the guitar and about web promotion. My voice is an important part of all these.

I started to “lose my voice” after having a rather bad bout of flu. I was not too bothered to start with as my doctor had already signed me off work for a week. I just presumed that my speech would resume to normal after a couple of days and that all would be fine etc.

Unfortunately this was not the case and after around ten days my voice was still extremely hoarse. I had finished the course of penicillin, I had taken paracetamol and had been drinking plenty of fluids as the doctor had advised yet I was still unable to talk in my normal natural way. I did not want to panic, I did not want to over react but there was this nagging thought at the back of my mind that maybe something was seriously wrong with me – throat cancer perhaps. Now you may think that this was some what crazy but I am merely telling the truth – this was the way that my mind was starting to think.

After reading numerous pieces of advice on the internet I decided that what I really needed to do was to rest my voice box in a major way. This was the only thing that I had yet to do. I had done basically everything that these websites had advised me to do which included drinking a lot of fluids such as water and eating healthily. They also recommended that people should rest their voice box almost completely – I had not done this mainly due to the fact that I have a rather busy and hectic life.

I am sure that you will be relieved to hear that I am now back to my old healthy self after having an extended period of rest.

Successful Stress Management Techniques

September 25, 2009 by

Now I am sure that we would all admit to becoming a little stressed from time to time. It is knowing what to do about it which is the problem for most of us. I am the type of person who used to stress about the smallest of things, this stress affected my sleep, my skin and my work life. I now, after studying the subject of stress for the past two years, have come up with ways to help me to cope with and to reduce the amount that I stress. I am going to write about these ways in this article.

I have had a good chat with myself during recent times, having to admit various weaknesses if you like; one of which was my overall attitude to life. For whatever reason I always used to think in a very negative way; I was always rather down and depressed and believed that I was an unlucky person. In reality I was actually fine but as you may be able to tell I would feel sorry for myself.

I am now able to think in a far more positive light and this has helped me no end.

Meditation has also helped me to think in a more upbeat manner. The main area where I find meditation helps is to enable my mind to think in a much clearer manner.

Another successful stress reduction strategy is too start to exercise on a regular basis. This is good for many other reasons as well as stress including aiding fitness and weight loss. I have a pet dog now and taking it for around six walks a day helps to to keep fit and to also get out of the house when things start to get a bit stressed.

All of these things have helped me in many ways including to overcome stammering; this was a problem that I had to endure for eighteen years of my life. At the time, before the internet was born, it was quite difficult to receive credible stammering advice, which just added to the overall frustration.

I am now able to live a happy, confident, fluent life and am working as a well known web promotion specialist.

A Married Couple Becomes Distressed About Their Irresponsible and Excessive Drinking and Wonders If They Exhibit Any Alcohol Addiction Signs and Then Feels Invigorated About Addressing Their Difficulties

September 24, 2009 by

Sarah and Jerry have been married for five years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have children and so they willfully established a super vigorous social life.

The major problem, it needs to be stressed, is that practically everything they do with their family and friends is associated with drinking. As an illustration, all of the dinner engagements, sporting events, happy hours, family get-togethers, and parties with friends they go to somehow include drinking.

Jerry and Sarah Begin to See Some Instantly Noticeable Alcohol Related Issues That are Linked to Their Abusive Drinking

If they were moderate or responsible drinkers, this wouldn’t be such a difficult situation. Because they drink quite irresponsibly, however, they are starting to observe some unmistakable alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For instance, just four days ago Jerry got a second DUI and has been taking time off from work due to alcohol-related health issues. What is more, Jerry’s last two performance appraisals at work have been less than commendable and he has begun to fail to recall what he says or does when he drinks. As a final point, Jerry has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family has begun to exhibit some uneasiness about his drinking activities.

Similar to Jerry’s situation, Sarah has been feeling disheartened with life and to handle these feelings, she has been drinking more often than any time in the past ten months. Moreover, Sarah has been experiencing more than a few migraine headaches and having severe hangovers because of her drinking. Finally, Sarah has been feeling considerably less active when she awakens, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been getting some unsupportive criticism from her coworkers, friends, family members, and relatives about her hazardous drinking.

Watching the TV and Flipping the Channels and Finding A Remarkable Documentary About the Signs of Alcohol Dependency

One Sunday evening while watching TV, Sarah and Jerry flipped through the channels and found an interesting documentary about the signs of alcoholism.

This television program was a real eye opener to Sarah and Jerry because numerous alcoholism signs that were listed looked like they were unswervingly correlated with several of the alcohol-related drinking problems Jerry and Sarah had been going through.

A Straightforward Dialogue About Drinking Circumstances Exposes Alcohol Related Legal, Employment, Health, Financial, and Relationship Problems

After watching the TV documentary, Jerry and Sarah determined that they needed to have a truthful conversation about their drinking situation. They both concurred that most, if not all, of their social pursuits somehow involved drinking, that they were drinking irresponsibly, and that as a couple, they were starting to observe alcohol related financial, employment, health, relationship, and legal problems for the first time in their lives.

With thoughts of the TV documentary still imprinted in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcohol addiction signs they have been displaying could be a warning that they are addicted to alcohol or perhaps becoming dependent on alcohol. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s question and so he recommended that they schedule an appointment with one of the healthcare professionals at the local substance abuse rehab clinic to find out more about the severity of their drinking difficulties.

Focusing On Your Drinking Issues Just May Lower Your Anxiety and Give You Some Serenity

Strangely enough, although their drinking circumstances hadn’t yet changed, it was clear that Sarah and Jerry were at least focusing on their drinking problems, they were excited about finding out more about their drinking behavior, and they were interested in learning how they could substantially cut back on or eliminate the alcohol-related difficulties that had begun to get worse.

When Jerry and Sarah went to bed that night, they arrived at a decision that the next morning, Jerry would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the substance abuse treatment facility located in the next town. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to triumph over the drinking problems that had developed in their lives, they actually had the most peaceful night’s sleep they could think of in the last four weeks.

Just before she fell asleep, Sarah turned to Jerry and observed how painless it is to lessen one’s fear and actually experience a sense of calm by facing one’s problems head-on and deciding to do something constructive about them.

A Young Couple Evaluates Their Irresponsible and Excessive Drinking and Their Short and Long-Term Hopes, Plans, and Dreams

September 24, 2009 by

Merissa and Augie have been dating for four years. They met while taking the same gender and sexuality studies class at a relatively small, countryside, private liberal arts college located in the far Western part of the U.S. While they were in essence good friends at first, they finally began dating when they were in their second year of college.

Due to the fact both of them came from very conventional backgrounds, neither one of them drank very much beyond the experimental stage when they first started to date. As the time passed by, then again, they began to go to more football bashes, happy hours, sorority and fraternity parties, and keg parties. As a result, they over time began to drink increasingly more the longer they interacted with one another.

Their Social Life Commonly Consisted of Going to Professional Sporting Events, Going to Parties With Their Friends, Going to Restaurants Three or Four Nights Per Week, Going to Happy Hour With Their Friends, and Going With Their Friends to the Local Club on the Weekends

After they graduated from college, they both got jobs in a relatively small city that was located around seventy-five miles from their undergraduate college. Then they decided to move in with each other.

Due to the fact they were far removed from the college drinking scene, nevertheless, their social life regularly consisted of going to parties with their friends, going to happy hour with their friends, going to professional sporting events, going to restaurants three or four nights per week, and going to the local watering hole with their friends on the weekends. In short, Merissa and Augie began drinking in an abusive and hazardous manner.

Now that they were living in the same apartment with one another and beginning to get more earnest about their relationship, nevertheless, they began thinking about buying a house, having children, becoming more responsible, and getting married.

With any big change in an individual’s life there is often something that causes the particular change in question. For Augie and Merissa the thought of buying a new house and having children was this “trigger.” Stated more explicitly, for the first time in their lives, Augie and Merissa began to reflect on their excessive and irresponsible drinking and the long term alcohol effects on their health.

How Would Their Excessive and Abusive Drinking Affect Their Ability to Have Children, Their Mental Health, Their Relationship With Their Parents, Their Finances, and Their Relationship With One Another?

Would their heavy and excessive drinking unfavorably affect their ability to have children? How would they be able to continue spending so much money on drinking if they were to start saving for a new house? How responsible would they be if they had children and continued to drink in an excessive and irresponsible manner? How would they be able to face their parents and tell them about their long term aspirations, dreams, and hopes while they still drank in a hazardous and irresponsible manner while having fun as they did when they were in college? What would their heavy and hazardous drinking do to their relationship? How would their irresponsible drinking affect their mental health?

From a different viewpoint, although neither one of them ever suffered from alcohol poisoning, received a DUI, or experienced alcohol withdrawal symptoms, they realized that their abusive and hazardous drinking was becoming a thorny issue that they could not overlook any longer.

After Giving Their State of Affairs Much Thought, Augie and Merissa Finally Comprehended That Their Dreams, Hopes, and Aspirations Would not be Fulfilled if They Continued Their Hazardous Drinking

All of these inquiries without a doubt resulted in the same conclusion: Merissa and Augie needed to comprehend more clearly that they couldn’t continue their abusive and heavy drinking if their aspirations, dreams, and hopes were to be fulfilled.

Once they got to this conclusion, they alerted their drinking buddies about their goal of buying or building a new house, about their plans to start a family, and about their marital plans. They also told their drinking friends that they still wanted to hang around with them but that they would be drinking in strict moderation from this point forward so that they could start to realize their future dreams, goals, and aspirations.

Much to their surprise, all of their buddies expressed relief because they too had been pondering the direction of their lives and concluded that their life-styles were too focused on drinking. They also understood that they would have to change substantially if they were to become more responsible and exhibit more thoughtfulness for their aspirations, their careers, and for their health in the next ten or fifteen years.

After their candid discussion with their friends about their dreams, hopes, and plans, Augie and Merissa essentially started to have more meaningful relationships with all of their pals. The fundamental reason for this was the fact that all of them had the same frame of mind regarding their excessive drinking and their relatively short and long-term plans, goals, and aspirations.

Teaching self motivation?

September 24, 2009 by

My family is trying to teach my younger brother (he’s about 14) to take initiative and be self-motivated (in all aspects of his life, not just in education). However, we’re in uncharted waters here, and doing some research isn’t helping. I’ve found tons of sources to teach yourself self-motivation and initiative, but not anything useful in terms of teaching others those same skills, especially at the teenage years. Any ideas? (resources and/or strategies would be greatly appreciated)

Is it inevitable that the uprising in "positive thinking" dissolves standards?

September 24, 2009 by

It seems as though people are beginning to take being positive so literally as to not allow for constructive criticism. Yet, without criticism there is no discipline, and no standards. Do we have to choose; is that the balance of the universe or what? Any thoughts?

Personally I think so for the same reason and one more. That reason being that children raised to softly will crumble in Society because they have had no experience with negativity and have only grown up thinking that they will always win. Growing up to positive they’ll from early on in their childhood will have high standards of believes and so therefore become easily disappointed when they fail which is a major confidence crush and well that means no self esteem leading to an empty and miserable existence.I supose this means that critisism however constructive will lead to even lowere self esteem.Right?

A Teenager Decides to See His Family Doctor About His Alcoholism Symptoms and His Depression

September 23, 2009 by

Denny is a fifteen-year-old adolescent who has finally made up his mind that he needs to go and see his family healthcare practitioner about his abusive and excessive drinking. At first, Denny thought he would be able to simply go on the Internet, look for some fundamental alcohol info and determine whether or not he was an alcoholic.

Not unexpectedly, he discovered a number of websites that spelled out some of the commonplace alcoholism symptoms. That’s the positive news. The less than positive news, regrettably, was that Denny presented quite a few of these alcoholism symptoms.

Alcohol Dependency Symptoms Revisited

As a case in point, Denny has been drinking much more than usual and he has begun to have more highly charged spats with the female he is dating. Moreover, for the first time in his life he has been experiencing sleeping difficulties. In a similar manner, Denny habitually has felt depressed and on an escalating basis he has been demonstrating less than usual attention to detail while at school. What is more, he has felt highly stressed and more anxious on a daily basis and for the past seven or eight months he has displayed questionable thinking at school. Given that Denny has been displaying all of these symptoms, he was excusably uneasy about his unhealthy and excessive drinking.

So Denny decided to make a phone call to his doctor and schedule an appointment. In fact, this was problematic for Denny because his doctor was also his parents’ healthcare professional. The origin of his distress was this: at the risk of embarrassing his family, he had to go and expose his abusive and excessive drinking behavior to his healthcare professional.

When Denny arrived at the doctor’s office, he plainly notified the family healthcare practitioner about the concern he has about his excessive drinking behavior. When the healthcare professional asked what was bringing about this fear, Denny acknowledged that he had gone online and read about dependency on alcohol and especially about alcohol addiction symptoms. He then outlined all of the alcohol dependency symptoms that he obviously thought he manifests.

A Thoroughgoing Physical Examination and Outpatient Alcohol Rehabilitation

The family doctor informed Denny that it was wise of him to focus on his problem drinking, he gave Denny an in depth physical assessment, and suggested that he talk to his Mother and Father about signing into an out-patient alcohol rehabilitation center that was run by Doctor Dubas, one of his doctor co-workers who is an alcohol abuse and alcoholism specialist.

What is more, when Denny expressed the fact that he has been feeling depressed to an increasing extent, the family doctor informed Denny that depression and alcoholism often come about in the same individual. Accordingly, the physician also suggested that Denny talk to his parents about seeking therapy to attend to his sense of despair. In fact, Denny can go to the local mental health center and make an appointment with Doctor Jacobs, a renowned counseling psychologist who specializes in treating adolescents.

The Value of Addressing Your Drinking Issues and Getting Encouraged About Making Healthy and Positive Changes in Your Life

The healthcare professional made it a point to tell Denny that he might not necessarily be dependent on alcohol, but that he was undeniably drinking in an excessive manner. In other words, Denny was engaging in teen alcohol abuse. The healthcare practitioner then informed Denny that the reason he recommended alcohol rehab in the first place was because he wanted him to face his drinking difficulties, make sure that he stopped them from getting worse, and start to live in a more healthy manner, even if it meant that he had to absolutely abstain from drinking.

In a word, by effectively treating his problem drinking, Denny would be able to get his drinking problems under control and stop the negative cycle of events that could almost certainly result in alcohol addiction.

Denny undeniably did not look forward to facing his Mother and Father about his drinking issues and his depression. And he surely did not want to face the thought of enrolling in an alcohol treatment center. And last of all, he was not overjoyed about going to a counselor about his excessive sadness. Despite these trepidations, then again, Denny as a matter of fact felt some emotional relief for the first time in many months because he ultimately quit making excuses for himself and decided to do something positive about his careless drinking.
